About the Role:
As a Healthcare Data Analyst, you’ll play a vital role in our underwriting process, analyzing medical and pharmacy claims data to identify high-risk individuals and optimize decision-making. You’ll collaborate with underwriters, nurses, and management to provide valuable insights and ensure the financial health of our insurance products.

What You Will Do:
- Data Analysis: Review and analyze medical and pharmacy claims data to identify high-risk individuals and optimize the underwriting process.
- Reporting: Create, analyze, and provide claim overviews to underwriters, nurses, and management.
- Shock Claims Summaries: Review underwriting group reports to identify and extract data related to potentially catastrophic claims.
- Report Review Guidelines: Create, document, update, and publish guidelines for consistent review of underwriting reports.
- Collaboration: Interact with Underwriting and Medical Risk Consultants to discuss significant risk findings.
- Special Projects: Work on special assignments or projects as requested.
Qualifications:
- Certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder-Payer (CPC-P), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required.
- Education:
- Must have completed a formal medical coding education program.
- Associate degree in Health Management or Health Information Management required.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a remote setting related to medical coding, healthcare analytics, or reporting.
- Skills:
- Technical aptitude, including proficiency with MS Office Suite and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Data manipulation, analysis, and interpretation skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating in groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Experience with first-dollar medical claims and case management.
- Experience in group medical insurance, Excess Loss, or as a Reinsurance Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Medical Assistant, or other healthcare equivalent.
