About the Role:
As a Senior Scientific Writer, you’ll be responsible for crafting compelling narratives that translate complex scientific findings into accessible language for a variety of audiences. You’ll collaborate with researchers, scientists, and the Marketing & Communications team to produce high-quality content that showcases the Institute’s groundbreaking work and advances its mission.

Responsibilities:
- Scientific Writing: Organize, analyze, and interpret complex medical, scientific, and technical data to produce clear and engaging content.
- Content Creation: Write a variety of materials, including blogs, website content, social media posts, and press releases, to promote the Sanford Stem Cell Institute and its research programs.
- Communication Strategy: Oversee comprehensive communication campaigns, ensuring alignment with the Institute’s strategic marketing plan.
- Project Management: Manage projects related to marketing and communications, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Director, Center Directors, and researchers to develop and disseminate impactful content.
- Digital Strategy: Incorporate digital strategies to promote research programs and services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus three years of related experience/training.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues.
- Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive communication plans.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management on communication strategies.
- Understanding of technical applications and design concepts.
- Proven track record of writing about complex scientific studies for general audiences.
- Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, and goals.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Degree or certificates in Biology, Health Communications, or a related science.
- Experience: Experience working in a scientific research environment.
