Are you a dedicated IT professional with a passion for cybersecurity and protecting sensitive data? GovCIO is seeking a skilled Security Systems Administrator to join our team in a fully remote capacity.
In this crucial role, you’ll be responsible for reviewing and remediating ACAS scans, supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, and ensuring the security of multiple closed environments.
Position Overview:
As a Remote Security Systems Administrator, you’ll be an integral part of the IT support team, safeguarding critical government data and systems.
You’ll manage patching, vulnerability remediation, and STIGing for assigned programs, ensuring compliance with DOD security policies and protecting against cyber threats.
Your expertise in system administration, security measures, and troubleshooting will be essential in maintaining a secure and resilient IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Security Management: Plan, implement, monitor, and upgrade security measures for the protection of program data, systems, and networks.
- Vulnerability Remediation: Review and remediate ACAS scans to address vulnerabilities and strengthen system security.
- RMF Support: Contribute to Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, ensuring compliance with DOD security policies and procedures.
- System Administration: Perform system administration duties for Red Hat and Windows server systems, including Tier II and Tier III administration, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Incident Response: Collaborate with intrusion analysts to identify, report on, and coordinate the remediation of cyber threats.
- Security Assessments: Conduct monthly vulnerability scans and assessments of servers, addressing findings and implementing mitigations.
- Technical Support: Respond to assigned tasks, incidents, and service requests, providing timely and effective technical support.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the security and integrity of IT systems.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent with 9+ years of relevant experience.
- Certifications:
- Must have or obtain IAT level II certification within 90 days of hire (e.g., CompTIA Security+ (CE)).
- Must have or obtain Computing Environment certification within 90 days of hire (e.g., AWS, Linux, Windows).
- Experience: Demonstrated experience and understanding of DOD Security, RMF, and/or NIST Policies.
- Clearance: Active Secret clearance; must be able to obtain Top Secret clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and internal teams.
- Experience with virtual and/or cloud-based servers and applications.
- Excellent technical documentation and reporting skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
