In this fully remote role, you’ll be responsible for compiling payroll data, processing pay orders, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Position Summary:
As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll partner with our PEO clients to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing. You’ll compile payroll data, enter employee information, calculate taxes and deductions, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve any client issues. Your attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to work independently will be crucial in this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing:
- Compile payroll data and billing records for assigned clients.
- Accurately prepare and execute pay orders through the electronic system.
- Issue paychecks in accordance with PEO guidelines.
- Data Entry & Maintenance:
- Record changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and personnel changes.
- Enter and maintain client-related information in the payroll system.
- Client Support & Training:
- Review new hire and employee change paperwork, collaborating with clients to ensure accuracy.
- Train and assist clients on using relevant websites and educate them on tax regulations and labor laws.
- Collaboration & Compliance:
- Collaborate with internal departments and the field client service team to resolve client issues.
- Stay informed about payroll system enhancements and changes in wage and tax laws.
- Maintain knowledge of PEO service offerings and payroll policies to ensure compliance.
- Customer Service:
- Provide quality payroll service to PEO clients and worksite employees, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Maintain positive relationships with assigned clients and worksite employees.
- Proactively communicate suggestions, concerns, and observations to your manager.
- Additional Duties:
- May track the cost of individual projects and jobs.
- Other duties as assigned to support the position’s function.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Associate or BA degree in finance, business, or accounting preferred.
- Experience:
- 6+ months of PEO experience preferred.
- 1+ year of customer service experience.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- 10-key experience preferred.
- FPC Certification preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently and establish priorities.
