In this pivotal hybrid role based in Boston, you’ll lead a team of engineers, oversee the company’s desktop infrastructure, and drive continuous improvement in desktop services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of desktop engineers, fostering their growth and development.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance team performance and productivity.
- Provide regular feedback, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
- Desktop Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of desktop environments, including operating systems, applications, and hardware.
- Ensure system security, updates, and optimal performance.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for desktop management.
- User Support and Experience:
- Collaborate with IT support teams to resolve complex desktop issues.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the end-user experience through new technologies and process optimization.
- Gather and analyze user feedback to identify areas for improvement.
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement and manage desktop security solutions, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, security protocols, and processes.
- Project Management:
- Lead desktop engineering projects from planning to execution, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
- Coordinate with other IT teams to manage large-scale deployments and upgrades.
- Monitor project progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Relations:
- Manage relationships with hardware and software vendors.
- Collaborate with business units to understand their needs and align desktop services with their objectives.
- Act as a liaison between the desktop engineering team and other IT departments.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 7+ years in desktop engineering or IT infrastructure, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of desktop operating systems, endpoint management solutions, and virtualization technologies.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
- Project Management: Experience managing complex IT projects.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, CompTIA A+, ITIL) are a plus.
