GovCIO is seeking a talented individual to join our Clinical Services Product Line Support team, working remotely to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this crucial role, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining the development and testing environments for one of the VA’s flagship applications.
Position Overview:
As a Linux Administrator at GovCIO, you’ll collaborate closely with the project team to ensure the availability, security, and optimal performance of critical development and testing environments. You’ll leverage your expertise in Linux and Windows administration, scripting, and cloud technologies to streamline processes, automate tasks, and resolve technical challenges.

Responsibilities:
- Environment Management: Ensure the availability and accessibility of development and testing environments (Linux and Windows) for the project team.
- System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows operating systems, updates, and required software in cloud-based VMs (Azure and potentially AWS).
- Learning Agility: Quickly learn and adapt to unfamiliar software and systems to meet the evolving needs of the project team.
- Automation: Automate manual processes in system administration and the software development lifecycle to reduce errors and improve efficiency.
- Problem-Solving: Identify and proactively address potential issues, research viable options, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement solutions.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Operations Research, or related fields with 8 years of related experience. 3-5 years of additional experience may be substituted for education.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows OS administration, including provisioning, configuration, storage, and user management.
- Scripting or programming experience (BASH, Python, etc.).
- Experience with GitHub version control.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Maven).
- Familiarity with GitHub, JIRA, and Microsoft tools (Teams, SharePoint).
