Are you a data-driven professional with a passion for uncovering insights that optimize processes and empower decision-making? GovCIO is seeking a talented Data Analyst to join our Intake Coordination Team, supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
In this fully remote role, you’ll play a crucial part in ensuring a smooth transition between tools, maintaining data integrity, and providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
Position Overview:
As a Data Analyst at GovCIO, you’ll be responsible for bridging the gap between raw data and informed decisions. You’ll conduct gap analyses, manage data points, aggregate data from various sources, and create compelling visualizations using tools like Power BI.
Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the VA’s Intake Coordination Team, ultimately improving services for veterans.
Responsibilities:
- Gap Analysis: Conduct thorough gap analyses to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement during tool transitions. Provide detailed recommendations to bridge these gaps.
- Data Management: Oversee the management of data points, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness throughout the transition. Design and implement best practices for data entry, storage, and retrieval.
- Data Aggregation & Modeling: Aggregate data from various sources and create/maintain data models to support analysis and reporting.
- Data Cleansing: Perform data cleansing to ensure accuracy and implement processes to maintain data quality.
- Data Visualization: Create dynamic and interactive visualizations using tools like Power BI, tailoring them to meet stakeholder needs.
- Reporting & Presentation: Publish visualizations and reports, and prepare individuals to present data stories effectively to various audiences.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement strategies to maximize efficiencies in data management and governance.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to VA data governance policies and best practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and offer actionable insights.
- Quality Control: Perform rigorous quality checks and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
- Data Science: Utilize data science techniques to extract insights and drive data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business management, computer science, information systems, operations, research, or related fields, with 5 years of experience. Certifications in relevant UX software plus 3-5 years of experience may be substituted for education. Â
- Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in advanced quantitative analysis and strategic thinking.
- Experience in conducting gap analyses and providing recommendations.
- Expertise in Power BI and Excel for data visualization, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience in preparing individuals to present data effectively.
- Strong understanding of data reporting, trend analysis, and clear communication.
- Experience in process improvement and workflow optimization.
- Knowledge of data governance, policy compliance, and data security.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to perform quality checks and address data quality issues.
- Experience utilizing data science techniques and developing algorithms and models.
- Citizenship: Must be a US citizen.
- Background Check: Must pass a background investigation.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience with Veterans Affairs or other government agencies
- PMP, Scrum Master, and/or other Agile/SAFe certifications
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)
- Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
