ASSISTANT, INFORMATION CENTER: 100% Remote Opportunity at A-B Tech

A-B Tech, a leading community college nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina, is seeking a friendly and resourceful Assistant, Information Center to join our team in a 100% Remote capacity.

As an Assistant, Information Center, you will be the first point of contact for individuals seeking information about the College. You will answer inbound calls, emails, and web chats, providing assistance with admissions, financial aid, academic programs, schedules, and other general College information. You will also make outbound calls to prospective students and applicants.

Duties

  • Answer phone calls and provide accurate information regarding Admissions, Financial Aid, the Business Office, programs, schedules, and general College information to students, the community, and College employees.
  • Serve as a representative of the College and demonstrate excellent customer service at all times; minimize call transfers and appropriately manage escalated calls.
  • Assist in obtaining and organizing information for the College’s knowledge base website and other resources.
  • Perform data entry using information gathered via phone, email, and web chat.
  • Utilize Colleague software, the web, and other online resources to locate information quickly.
  • Provide technical support to customers accessing online student accounts and A-B Tech websites.
  • Respond to questions and address customer concerns via email and live web chat.
  • Utilize professional writing skills to update written materials and webpages.
  • Perform outbound calling to prospective students, applicants, and other targeted populations as needed.
  • Contribute to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
  • Support workforce diversity.

Requirements

  • Completion of a certificate or some college-level coursework OR an Associate degree.
  • One year of part-time or equivalent experience in customer service or administrative support.
  • Experience using email, Excel, Word, and common software applications.

Benefits

  • This is a part-time position (up to 29 hours per week) with a variable schedule between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Hourly pay range: $19.30 – $20.12
  • As a part-time employee, benefits may include:
    • Participation in the NC State Health Plan
    • Participation in the NC State Retirement System
