In this role, you’ll leverage your expertise in data analysis, visualization, and modeling to create solutions that impact productivity and support the mission of our government clients.
Position Overview:
As a Data Engineer at GovCIO, you’ll be responsible for the entire data lifecycle, from extraction and transformation to analysis and presentation. You’ll use a variety of tools and techniques, including Power BI, machine learning, and statistical analysis, to uncover hidden patterns and trends in data. Your work will directly contribute to improving decision-making, optimizing processes, and achieving strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Data Discovery and Visualization: Use data discovery and visualization tools to interpret and present findings in a compelling and usable manner.
- Data Modeling: Develop, inspect, mine, transform, and analyze data to create descriptive and predictive models that impact productivity, decision-making, and provide strategic mission impact.
- Metric Analysis: Understand Portfolio and VA Metrics and utilize related data to ensure metric objectives are being met.
- Machine Learning: Apply data mining, machine learning, and statistical analysis on data to create predictive and descriptive models.
- Reporting: Create and manage Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Database Optimization: Optimize database performance and ensure efficient storage and retrieval of data.
- Data Workflow Management: Monitor and manage data workflows to ensure reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
- Data Quality: Perform data quality checks and implement data validation mechanisms.
- Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis, including data visualization, statistical analysis, and data modeling.
- Technical Support: Provide support for data-related issues and troubleshoot performance problems.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s Degree in a Business Discipline and 10 years of relevant experience. An additional 10 years of experience can be substituted for education.
- Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in Power BI reporting and administration.
- Expertise in data analysis, data visualization, statistical analysis, and data modeling.
- Strong system design, application programming, and “clean code” skills.
- Ability to create diagrams and write design documentation independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts to a wide variety of individuals.
- Strong understanding of Scrum and Agile methodologies.
- Proficient with MS Office, MS SharePoint, MS Teams.
- Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines and stay organized. Â

- Experience with data governance and data cataloging
- Experience with Machine Learning technologies
- Highly motivated and analytical; proven problem-solving abilities
