GovCIO is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Test Engineer to support the Veterans Legacy Memorial contract. This is a fully remote position with a focus on accessibility.

Position Overview:
As a 508 Test Engineer, you will play a critical role in our Quality Assurance team, ensuring that our software products are accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.
You will design, develop, and execute test plans, conduct manual and automated testing, and collaborate with development teams to remediate any accessibility issues. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating a digital environment that is inclusive and accessible to everyone.
Responsibilities:
- Accessibility Testing: Perform comprehensive accessibility testing of web and mobile applications to ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 standards.
- Test Planning: Develop and execute test plans and test cases specifically for accessibility. Collaborate with stakeholders to define accessibility requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Automated Testing: Utilize and configure accessibility testing tools and automation frameworks.
- Manual Testing: Conduct manual testing of web and mobile applications, including keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, color contrast analysis, and other accessibility checks.
- Reporting: Document and report accessibility issues, including detailed descriptions and recommendations for remediation. Track and verify defect resolution.
- Compliance Audits: Participate in and lead accessibility compliance audits, ensuring adherence to best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Training & Advocacy: Provide training and guidance to development and design teams on accessibility standards, best practices, and tools. Advocate for accessibility within the organization.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with accessibility trends and continuously improve testing processes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Â
- Experience: Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in software quality assurance testing with a focus on accessibility.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with accessibility testing tools, screen readers, and other assistive technologies. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex software systems and identify accessibility issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate accessibility issues and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications (optional but preferred): Certifications related to accessibility, such as CPACC or WAS.
- Clearance: Suitability for Public Trust.
